After the heat we’ve had lately, I think we’re all ready for some cooler weather. The timing couldn’t be much better. Our team shipped more than 40,000 mums last week, and garden centers around Indiana are filling up with fall color. If you’ve been waiting to buy mums, now is a pretty good time.
Cooler weather means mums dry out more slowly and their flowers last longer. My advice is to buy one with plenty of unopened buds rather than the plant with every flower already open. It’ll keep opening at home and give you a longer show.
With 40,000 leaving our greenhouse last week, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll see Hoosier Boy mums out there. Enjoy the cooler weather and September gardening.
