Geranium Growing Tips

Geraniums are true blooming powerhouses and one of the most reliable plants you can grow in Indiana. While they've sometimes been seen as more traditional, they're making a strong comeback with new colors, deeper reds, and striking bicolors that feel much more modern.

New interspecific varieties like Solera and Calliope have really changed the game. These are more vigorous and versatile than traditional zonal geraniums and can be treated more like other annuals in mixed containers.

Because of that, they pair well with a wide range of plants like lantana, salvia, and ageratum, making them a great anchor in combo planters.

For best results, feed regularly with a balanced fertilizer like Espoma Flower-tone 3-4-5 or Miracle-Gro Water Soluble All Purpose Plant Food 24-8-16 every 1–2 weeks.
